About Me
Hi there! I am a PhD fellow at Digital Visual Studies - University of Zurich
I was trained as an engineer, but my research and personal interests are much about computational methods applied to the study of art

I am a Ph.D. fellow at Digital Visual Studies (University of Zurich). My background is in telecommunications engineering. I received an M.Sc. degree in 'Signal Processing and Machine Learning for Big Data' from ETSIT-UPM. I acquired experience as a software engineer working at Cirrus Logic International S.L., where I performed research on voice bio-metrics with AI technologies for my final bachelor thesis, obtaining the maximum qualification.
I have experience teaching AI-related topics to non-technical audiences at ’Fundación Univ. Empresa (FUE)’. My master thesis proposal was selected winner from the national Spanish contest launched by RTVE called ’Impulsa Visión Ayudas a la Investigación III ’. I developed a text generation system to automatically write weather forecasts. I was selected to participate at the Mobile World Congress 2021, where I performed TV and radio interviews to talk about my research. The project was awarded the maximum qualification by the master thesis examiners.
At the moment, I am interested in ways in which computers can help understand light and face expression in art history. I have built small applications to retrieve similar face expressions from art databases using a 3D reconstruction of depicted faces. I am working on the extraction of light features to study the effect of light in face expressions. I have participated in conferences hosted by the Biblioteca Hertziana and workshops such as BAL-ADRIA (University of Zadar), on the topic of how computational methods might be applied to humanities.
